food-induced coma

Image Image Image location – Taipei (finally) Wednesday, March 26 We arrived in Taiwan at 6:50 p.m. here. We are 14 hours ahead. We did our best to stay awake the entire trip. I succeeded except for 30 minutes. I’ve slept a total of four hours the last two days. It should be easy to crash tonight. The airport was really quiet and we were all surprised. The city is very clean for 6.6 million people and although it was dark it looks pretty Westernized. Taipei currently has the tallest building in the world called Taiwan 101 (according to my sources don’t quote me on it). YiPing, who is one of our two Young Life connections, picked us up and took us to a local restaurant market. We sampled some local cuisine, which included fried bread with fresh basil (the basil had a black licorice taste), bar-b-q'd chicken, fried clam and bacon wrapped around asparagus. We felt like all we had done on our flight was eat and sit around so food didn’t seem appetizing at first, but it was so good I have no complaints…except that my stomach was about to burst. I’m very ready for some sleep. I’m falling into food-induced coma now. After sleep we get started with meetings with several key YL supporters in Taiwan.
