Craig To the editor:
About 3:40 p.m. June 10, in front of Downtown Books, a woman lay on the sidewalk with her assist dog. This woman has cerebral palsy and was on her way to an appointment when she fell and was unable to get up.
Unfortunately, there were many people who passed by on their way in to various shops. The sad thing is not one person offered assistance or even a kind word. Shame on us.
Unfortunately, this woman laid on the sidewalk for more than five minutes before off-duty EMTs Shannon Mayes and Josh Martinez came to her aid. I hope people haven’t lost their sense of caring for others — who knows, one day that may be you or someone you love that needs help, and I hope that others wouldn’t just look the other way.
Many thanks to Shannon and Josh. Your caring and compassion for those in our community doesn’t go unnoticed.
Thanks again.
